Astragalus membranaceus

Astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus) is included in the family Fabaceae, subfamily of Faboideae. The genus is derived from the temperate regions of the northern hemisphere. Astragalus is a distinctive feature with the high reaching about 15-50 cm. This plant has branched stems with oval shaped leaves.

These plants, especially roots, are often used in Chinese medicine. Chinese people believe Astragalus is more efficacious than ginseng.
