Onion skin Prevent Diabetes

Do not discard the onion skin. Some scientists have revealed that the skin of onions contain compounds that are beneficial to support the health of the body.

"Waste onion can be a rich natural source of positive compounds to human health," said Vanesa Benitez, one scientist from the Chemistry Department of Agriculture Autonomous University, Madrid, Spain, who conducted the study.

Together with his team, Benitez worked together with scientists from the University of Cranfield, UK, to conduct laboratory experiments to identify positive compounds present in onion.

Beside rich in fiber and flavonoids, onion skins also contain a high compound antioksisan and fenolic. "Eating fiber reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal complaints, colon cancer, type-2 diabetes and obesity," he said.
