This dish is certainly is not foreign to us. Therefore, typical cuisine from West Sumatra is very popular in all circles of society, be it in Indonesia itself or abroad.
Besides using the main ingredient beef rendang also use coconut (karambia), and a typical mixture of various spices including chilli (Lado), galangal, lemongrass, onions and various other spices that is usually referred to as 'cooking'.

You know, cuisine Rendang have a respectable position in the culture of the Minangkabau. Rendang has its own philosophy for the Minangkabau of West Sumatra which set off the deliberations of the 4 main ingredients, namely:
1. Dagiang (Beef) is a symbol of Niniak Mamak (indigenous tribe leaders),
2. Karambia (Palm) is the symbol cadiak pandai (The Intellectual),
3. Lado (Chili) is a symbol Alim Ulama a spicy, assertive to teach religion,
4. Cooking (spices) is the symbol of the whole society Minang.
